Description

Castelli Romani, just 20km South-East of Rome, aren’t actually castles, but hill towns, many of them with very ancient history. This territory is famous among Italians for the landscape, the rich food offering and  many   great   wines. The Castelli Romani hill towns are scattered over  the Alban  Hills,  a  landscape created by volcanic activity left the two magnificent crater lakes of Albano and Nemi. Due to their hillside location, in summer  the 17 towns of Castelli Romani enjoy a fresher climate than Rome and the surrounding Roman plain.

Castel Candolfo, the pretty village located In the heart of Castelli Romani, known for the beauty of nature, for the lovely narrow streets and square dominated by the Pope summer Palace and for the views over Rome and over the lake, is among the exclusive Association of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages.
In the center of Castel Gandolfo is located the Apostolic Palace, which had served for centuries as a summer residence and vacation retreat for the Pope, has become a museum since October 2016.

You will then experience an exclusive private guided tour of Barberini gardens: you will be driven around in a golf cart and accompanied by a guide, all for yourselves!

Admire then the ruins of the Roman Domitian imperial villa and the nice and tidy Pope farm, where animals live in a very pleasant environment.

Short walk to the restaurant where you will enjoy aperitif in the grotto and a delightful lunch with a stunning lake view backdrop!

Do not miss the opportunity to have a stroll in the narrow streets of Castel Gandolfo and visit the local food and artisan shops, viewing the mosaics, jewelry, and other craft items to get a souvenir of this unforgettable day!
