DESCRIPTION:
Enjoy the magnificient Eternal City, joining our Seven hills tour by ApeCalessino!
You will have the opportunity to discover Rome from the top of its seven hills.
Starting from Viminal Hill, the smallest and most famous Seven hills of Rome where Emperor Diocletian built his marvellous thermal baths, we head to the Quirinal hill. On the top of the hill is housed the Quirinal Palace, one of the three current official residences of the President of the Italian Republic, together with Villa Rosebery in Naples and Tenuta di Castelporziano nearby Rome.
From there we go towards the Capitoline Hill located between the Forum and the Campus Martius. The hill is dominated by the Statue of Marcus Aurelis and the Senatorial Palace. The statue made of bronze, stands 4,24mt (13,9 ft). Once reached the Aventine Hill you will enjoy a unique view through the famous Keyhole of Rome.
When you peek through the mysterious keyhole, you actually have three countries in your line of sight: Malta, Italy and Vatican City.
The grounds just behind the green door belong to the Knights of Malta and the estate has been granted extraterritorial status by Italy, which means it is Maltese soil. The view just beyond the estate is still of Rome, Italy. Finally, St Peter’s Basilica lies in Vatican City, the smallest country in the world. The Aventine Keyhole remains shrouded in mystery. An experience you will keep in your mind for all your life.
We then drive around the Palatine Hill, archeological site open to the public and one of the main destination of guided tours. From the Palatine you will admire a breathtaking view of the Imperial Palace, Circus Maximum and the most visited monument in the world, the Colosseum.
We go up again to the Caelian Hill, where the wealthy Roman nobility built their gorgeous villas with beautiful gardens. It was the first ever district where houses were encrusted with marble. Today the area of the Caelian Hill is not as popular as other Hills, but we definitely suggest you to take the chance to visit Villa Celimontana, place that will make you fall in love with the silence, the magical smell of pine trees and its beautiful views.
Our tour by ApeCalessino will finish with the view of the Esquiline Hill and the Temple of Minerva Medica; the temple dedicated to Minerva Medica, mentioned by Cicero and other sources, is a nymphaeum, a building devoted to the nymphs.
